Valdur Mikita's book FORESTONIA. ESTWALD. MINE METSA!
French bookbinding, 2019.
French bookbinding, 2019.
This is a trilingual book about Estonian culture and the Estonian way of life. It introduces the world of Valdur Mikita's thoughts.
I got the inspiration for this bookbinding when I visited the exhibition "Conflicts and Adaptations. Estonian Art of the Soviet Era (1940-1991)" at the Kumu Art Museum. I was inspired by the work of constructivist artists in the poster graphics of the time. For the book's cover, I used collage and application techniques, painting, and graphic design.
The book was published as part of the EKA French bookbinding project.
My aim was to acquire a practical knowledge of the principles of creating a typographic analysis of the book's content pages, to combine different materials and technologies, and to create an artistic binding that harmonizes with the book's content.
